Athletes

The sex appeal of female athletes also plays a role in the pressures and influences they have on young girls and women in today's society.

Looking at the photos below, do you know who these female athletes are? Can you tell what sport they play?

So, who are these women athletes and what sport do they play?

Name of athlete and sport will be given in order from first photo to fourth photo.  Photos are in the same order in the above sectioned photos.

Photo #4: Anna Kournikova: Professional Tennis Player

A semi-retired Russian Tennis player. She has had some successes in her singles game, reaching #8 in 2000, but has been #1 in doubles with partner Martina Hingis, in which they won grand slams in 1999 and 2002.  Due to injuries it has held her from the sport.

It is clearly shown how sex appeal influences and pressures young girls and women.  As you can see these athletes are not very well-known for their sport, but are more popular for their careers in modeling.  Only to be discovered into the modeling industry after being exposed from their sport.  Not being exposed because they are phenomenal at their sport, but for their "body image."
